Our Story
The National Information Technology Agency (NITA) was established by an Act of Parliament of Ghana (Act 771) in December 2008. NITA succeeded the Ghana ICT Directorate (GICTeD) to further government’s ICT policy initiative, regulate and promote information and communications technologies and digital services which contribute to improving efficiency, transparency, and accountability in government functions.
Furthermore, NITA’s role is to provide for the licensing and certification of ICT service providers and professionals, enforce standards for digital systems and infrastructure, and enhance interoperability and innovation across all sectors.
