The $138 million National Data Centre managed by the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) is being underutilised due to lack of funds and poor patronage by the ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

According to the Director General (DG) of NITA, Mr Jeff Konadu, the data centre was to cater for the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) needs of the MDAs, but majority of them were not patronising NITA’s services.

Government today launched and started the implementation of an E-Cabinet platform, effectively eliminated the manual distribution of cabinet documents and embracing technology in the conduct of cabinet business.

President John Dramani Mahama, in his remarks to launch the E-Cabinet Platform, said its introduction would not only enhance the efficiency of cabinet and ministers but also allow for the real time dissemination of information on developing agenda and documents.

Government Services, ePayment & eCommerce Platform LAUNCHED

Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen, on behalf of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), I wish to welcome you all to the official launching of the Ghana Electronic Payment Platform.

As part of the e-Government Network Infrastructure being deployed by NITA and Huawei Technologies (GH) S.A. Ltd.,  all exiting 30 WiMAX BTSs installed accross the nation has been successfully upgraded to 4G LTE Base Station, to serve as the last mile solution. Subsiquently all new network connections being installed on an incremental bases of 30 Base Stations in 2014 to 2015 to cover all Districts in the Country.

As clearly specified in Act 771, which established the National Information Technology Agency, the governing body of the Agency is a Board of Directors appointed by the President of the Republic of Ghana in accordance with article 70 of the 1992 Constitution. The Board is supposed to ensure that the functions of the Agency are performed properly and effectively.
